After high school, Mark enlisted in the United States Army as a Military Policeman.  Following training, Mark was sent New York City he served as a Protective Service Agent for the Department of Defense, providing security to high ranking DoD Officials and their foreign guests.  In 1988, Mark received an Army ROTC Scholarship and attended Colorado State University.  In 1991, he graduated from Colorado State University and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Army.  Mark received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1995.  Following graduation, he received a fellowship to study environmental law at The George Washington University Law School.  In 1996, Mark was admitted to the Colorado bar.  

In October of 1996, Mark entered the United States Air Force as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate (JAG).  He served as Chief of Environmental and Civil Law, and served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.  In January of 1998, he became an Area Defense Counsel for the Eastern Circuit of the United States.  Mark remained the Area Defense Counsel, defending over 40 criminal trails at Air Force bases throughout the eastern United States and Panama after which he was reassigned to Hanscom Air Force Base in Boston, Massachusetts.  While in Boston, Mark served as the Chief of Environmental Law primarily negotiating Federal Facility Agreements with the EPA.  In addition, Mark served as Special Assistant United States Attorney, and as The Deputy Staff Judge Advocate.

While on active duty, Mark received the following awards:  Army Achievement Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Good Conduct Medal; National Service Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal; Meritorious Service Medal.

In March of 2001, Mark joined Shughart Thomson & Kilroy, P.C. where he was responsible for litigating several complex commercial and business litigation matters.  In addition, during this time, Mark began representing business clients on general business matters, labor and employment issues, and general real estate transactions.  

In 2006, Mark started his own firm, The Jakoby Law Firm, P.C.  Mark  Primarily represents small to medium size businesses in day-to-day business matters.  In addition, Mark represents clients in mediation, arbitration, and litigation matters.  Mark has considerable trial experience in cases involving commercial contract disputes, shareholder disputes, real property disputes and collection matters.  Mark also represents selected clients regarding criminal matters.
